Intrinsic Rewards: Moving from Within
 Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education

A Transformative Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® Class

This class is on hold for now.
Intrinsic rewards come from within, rather than from external validation.  They come from systematic changes, and how we value the changes that we have discovered through our learning process.

As we learn to move (and relate, and communicate), we do the best we can to find something that works. However, our constructed habits of movement (and living) that served us, that were good enough once, eventually can lead to patterns of pain. Or just not feeling good.

I had to learn a new way.

The Feldenkrais Method® was instrumental in this process. By playing with movement in novel ways, we experience learning puzzles that help us access movement patterns out of context. That means we can question, discover, and try on new ways of being.

I have met myself in so many different shapes and constraints that I have run into my old attitudes, and questioned if they served me.  What I was taught when I was young was a great place to start, but I didn’t understand then that what I learned was modelled on bodies that were not mine, cultural attitudes and actions that were based on what someone else believed, how someone else thought I should move, behave, and live.

Join this class to explore processes of learning that can improve your relationship with yourself (and others).

We build our idea of ourselves throughout our lives. Here is a place you can teach yourself to learn something that emerges from yourself.

Like all foundational learning, It is not a one-time process, but one time can offer you some insights.

Sure, pain relief happens here. But so does learning to stand in neutral during times of conflict. So does learning to rely on your own structure for support so that you feel more free to move.

Welcome one and all.

Functional Integration®

Move better. Feel Better.

What we do is find, together, a way to move and be in your body that is intrinsically rewarding to you, and that serves your healing journey. "
We work with the nervous system--the brain--through touch. People report that over time they feel:
  • Improved alignment, balance, stability, flexibility
  • Greater comfort, reduced pain (backs, necks, joints)
  • Improved sense of self; greater ease and self-confidence

Feldenkrais sessions are opportunities to rest and restore, to engage with yourself on a deep level--making friends with yourself. Based in neuro-plasticity and functional anatomy, its about the body and its potential for movement, our sessions are also intuitive, and nourishing.

These individualized, movement sessions, can help you find a way to move that is more yours--and that in turn can help you feel more at home. Through working with the body, we work with the whole person. Change happens through very gentle hands-on work, that is a reeducation and re-connection between brain and body.
