Practicing yoga through the use of the principles of Feldenkrais, we use motion, with close attention, helping us create a clearer picture of ourselves, how we move. This allows us to move--use force--more efficiently.
What we do:
-Using the poses of yoga, we attend closely to how we move, building on our physical experiences improving the quality of movement, and increasing possibilities for moving.
-We unite breath with movement (our breath is an easy way to check in with our physical, emotional, and mental state)
-We discover how WE each do yoga, in an individualized way that respects our bodies, how they’ve compensated to adjust for injuries throughout our lives. This is a practice of respect. (that is part of the philosophy of yoga)
Yoga specific goals:
*will aquaint you with yoga poses, proper alignment
*will build strength and deeper understanding of physiology leading to a safe and strong practice
*will give you all the skills needed to do yoga, but beyond that, should make your life better.
* increased flexibility
* increase of ease and efficiency in movement
* increase joint health and healthy ways of using our joints
* better balance and stability
* can lead to greater comfort, reduced pain (backs, necks, joints), and greater precision in movements
* can lead to better self-use, regardless of the situation.
